Finding anything here in LA seems to be hard.

Ebay Bike

Salvage is something I'm not too familiar with. Seems like a lot of bikes are and it sounds like if can be anything from a simple low speed drop to major accident. Is that true?

What's the deal with the single headlight? It says an 02, would someone really swap the awesome duals for a single?

Any other thoughts if I go look at it?

I don't know if there is a motorcycle equivalent of Carfax, but if there is, I would use it. I have heard that motorcycles get totaled pretty easily, so it's possible it could be in decent shape. Some owners have gone to the single headlight, for whatever reason. Definitely research what you can on the VIN. Get a detailed verifiable history.

I suspect others will chime in with better advice. Good luck.

It says it's an ST, but the ST has a different frame. I say run away!

I'm with Dave on the run away part, but sometimes people do call the Speed Triple an ST.

What are you looking to spend....

I don't know what it takes to make a bike legal in the Republic of Kalifornia but you may want to look at Geof3s bike on ebay

I was just looking online for bike dealers in South Florida, and found a company that specializes in selling/parting out damaged bikes. According to the website, These bikes come with one of the following designations on their title.

Certificate of Destruction= Cannot be registered in every state, Check with your local DMV

Rebuilt Title= Was a Rebuildable title that needed an inspection to be able to be registered and has since gone thought and passed it’s inspection from the DMV.

Rebuiltable Title= Needs an inspection from the DMV in order to have the title changed to a rebuilt title. It can then be registered in every state

Parts only, Bill of sale, and unrebuildable or unrepairable certificate= Export only or parts only bikes.

Salvage title bikes are bikes that have a rebuilt title.

Some of these bikes were totalled because body damage exceeded the insured cost. Normally, it CAN be a good deal if the steering head and frame are straight, and the engine/transmission has no structural damage. The title will always say 'Salvage', though.

Site is here, if anyone is interested Clicky

Believe me, I have been. There are only like 8 on ebay at a time! I would rather get one local so I ca inspect it and not pay shipping.
