I just got done cleaning my whoopty after yesterdays long ride.... and I do believe the ***** brake pads cause more of a mess then the 10000 masquitos that met their fate on the front end and my face mask.

Are there any pads on the market that produce less dust? maybe a harder compound?

Seems that OEM pads on all stock vehicles produce tons of unwanted dust.... and the aftermarkets work just as good, if not better, with very little dust to show.

What say you? :???:

Hey Drunktank, can't advise on pad brand, but cool to see you got some time to enjoy a long spin on your baby. Funny how you get a little rain and every bug and plant appears like magic in the desert. Where'd ya go?

I say try a set of EBC HH Sintered pads. I've been using them for years now, and love the stopping power. Great initial bite and easy to modulate. Not much dust either.

Can't help you on the pad issue. I've got a pair of SBK's in a pile next to me waiting to be put on my bike but it's 8 FREAKIN' DEGREES out now so it'll be a couple of months. You guys who live in the year-round warmth blow.

I rode up to Globe, AZ. about 100 miles each way. Fun little ride once you get into the twisties...... too bad every harley in the SW USA was on that road. ***** slow pokes! Funny thing I noticed though.... almost all the harleys rode in packs... while almost all the sport bikes were solo. Kinda odd......

I guess ill have to find a riding buddy and change that! little easier for folks to see a pack or riders than it is a lone bike

Hey drunk, thats weird, me and all my buddies were out that way yesterday too. Didn't see another sportsbike all day, as you said. We were 7 strong, our usual group, next time we go out, you are welcome to come, you too John.

As far as I know what follows only applies to me. That said,
My first bike was a XLH 883 that I converted to 1202 CC'S with S&S cylinders and Super E carb. I put Progressive suspension shocks and springs front and rear and I had 2" drag pipes with anti reversion cones. I thought the bike was awesome. It was my first one. I passed the drver license test and I rode every chance I got. I judged my riding skills on being able to get from point A to point B in one piece. I prided myself on being able to do my bolt-on projects by myself ( with my trusty service manual). I went to the local AHDRA races, made my pilgrimage to Sturgis, even took my girlfriend on a pretty long trip. I never did crash the bike. I thought I was a good rider. I don't think I ever went over 80mph on it though. Never wheelied it.
I joined the police and got lucky enough to get on the bike detail. Then I learned how to control a motorcycle. From less than 1 mph to 100 +. After I really learned how to control a bike, then I got the bug to get a performance machine. One that performs well slowly, in the corners, and handles well at high speeds. Riding the BMW cured me of the urge to own another HD. I still love HD and I may have one again, but it will probably be a 4spd jockey shift shovel head. I would like the challenge of riding a bike like that. As my riding skills progressed, my need for a more highly engineered bike developed.
As for HD's riding in packs, if you lean most HD'S in a curve you are going to hit metal and be throwing sparks all over. They are not meant for twisting up canyon roads. The sport bike is made for it. I would love to ride my Sporty one more time now that my skills have developed. I think it would be fun to see what I was missing. I can see why a sport bike rider rides more or less alone. You need space to apex turns correctly. MOst of my friends with HD'S say, "It is not how fast you get there, it is how good you look on the way". As I have mentioned before, I was in the market for a k1200r but by the Grace of God I was steered toward the Speed Triple! I love the Triple, especially with the SW-Motech center stand. I had a point when I started writing this, honest!
Oh, I was trying to answer Drunktank's question about the opposing riding styles. Even though he did not ask me.
