I head from Chicago to Indy this Friday for a weekend ride with my brother (Sprint ST). We are heading out for a 2 day ride. I know he hasn't pulled together the route yet. Are there any recommendation for southern OH, IN, northern KY, that anyone can make? We were looking to complete about 300-350 miles per day.

I have enough seat time on the S3 to know that I will be a little sore after the ride.

TIA

Coming south toward Indianapolis, you can turn right off of US 31 at a Gas America/Burger King at a little town called Baker's Corner. This road will take you over some really straight country roads, turning into SR 47 for about 25 miles or so until you get to Thorntown, Indiana (watch your speed through here). You could also turn off of I-65 South onto SR 47 if you are coming South from there. The next 12 miles to Darlington, Indiana is a great stretch of curvy, recently paved road. This will take you into Crawfordsville, where you can catch US 231 South through Greencastle on into Spencer where you can catch SR 46 South into Bloomington and on to Brown County.

Don't know if you are familiar with Brown County, Southwest of Bloomington, Indiana or not. There is some really pretty scenery, hilly and curvy roads through there. SR 46 out of Bloomington is pretty nice. It's a hotbed of activity in the fall when the leaves change. There is a really nice Inn at the Brown County State park.

Not sure if this is on your way south or not, but SR 46 leads into Columbus, Indiana and you can catch some rural roads south toward Louisville pretty easily.

If you find some other good roads, let us know.

Illinilee,
If you end up towards the northeastern part of ky , Take st rt 32 out of Morehead to rt 23 in louisa,Ky., 60 miles of twisties, very rural and scenic. You can also catch 504 out of sandyhook for one of the most beautiful ridgetop country rides there is,route 3 from Louisa to ashland, Ky is a good road as well and from there you can take route 60 back to Lexington.

I agree with TripleThreat. Brown county is not to be missed. The roads in the Brown county area rival some of the best in the country.

Just for the record I grew up in Columbus, IN. I moved to the Chicago area after college.

I kinda forgot about SR46, which runs from Columbus to Bloomington. It is a great road. I had a girlfriend in Bloomington and got to a point where I could drive the road in my sleep (probably did a few times).

We will make a point to spend some time on SR46 this weekend.

Thanks for the reminder.

I moved to Columbus, IN from Detroit a couple of years ago, and while it is boring as hell in general (from what I was used to) it does have some GREAT roads. Off of SR46 W toward Bloomington is a road called 135 (just past Gnaw Bone), north goes toward Indy but south is a fantastic ride. Well kept roads, lots of curves and very little traffic. Take a look at it on MapQuest, you won't be disappointed.
