So here is the conundum! I presently ride a '02 S3, and love it. However, since the 1050 S3 came out I drool everytime I see one. I've also read all the hype surrounding the Dayton 675. Do I save my money and invest in new bits (Tuneboy etc.) for my '02, do I sell my '02 and get an '05 or '06 S3 or look seriously at the 675. Any advise would be welcome! :brk:

Go and ride 'em both. See what you think after that.

Depends on what you're drooling over. If it's performance, a full exhaust system and a GSXR fork swap should get you pretty close to a stock 1050. If it's looks, well, you'd have to spend a bundle or be a fiberglass expert to chop the tail properly.

Do you want a crotch rocket or a hooligan bike? A hunched over riding position or a more comfortable upright riding position? Plastic or naked? Wringing the bikes neck for HP or twisting the throttle for TQ? Easy decision for me but I've had back surgery/discs fused so it's upright hooligan naked TQ for me.

Is there a remarkable difference between the 955 and the 1050? And do the insurance companies screw you b/c of the increase in engine capacity? Also is the riding position on the 675 comfortable, the only thing I've got to compare it to is a GSX-R 750 that I found bloody terrible!

The 675 is terrible on comfort!!! I looked at Daytona 955s before I bought the S3 and I found those to be too bad, but the 675 is 3 times worse than the 955i Daytona.

If you're a small guy consider a 675 if you're not small (most S3 riders I know aren't) go S3. If comfort is a major consideration 675 has none of it S3 has more. If you want good track times, good track handling go 675 if you want power available anywhere, attitude, grunt, raw fun and showing track day boys how to do it on the road go S3. Personally it's a "no brainer" S3 is tops in almost every respect, wouldn't swop it for anything.

Seems that the 675 is loosing it's appeal a little. Someone I just spoke with also said that after owning an S3 I'd miss alittle of the "low end" grunt of the larger displacement. I'm not a huge track day junky so the racing bike thing is starting to look a little idiotic, especially considering the riding position. A part from daily trips into town most of my weekend rides are 2 to 3 hour deals, the 675 might prove a bit cramped. So should I upgrade to the 1050?

Also whats the story on the GSX-R fork swap mentioned earlier?
