I just picked up the latest edition of Bike Magazine here in the UK and they had run a test to find the perfect engine for British roads. They picked about 10 bikes covering all engine layouts, including A Busa, Yamaha R6, KTM super Duke, BMW R1200R, Ducati Sport 1000, Yamaha MT1 and of course the Speedy. (there are others)

They measured a standing spint to 100 yards siulating a Trafic light drag race, 40mph roll on in top and 70mph roll on in top to siulate overtaking. Vibration or smoothness, Feul efficiency, Engine/ exhaust note for desirability and a few other tests. And surprise surprise the old Triumph came top of the pile. Confirming what we all know that the Triple format give the best overall balance of top end power, low down pull and vibe free living.

It's a good article and I would post it in full here( I have scanned it) but I think I would be breaking copyright laws. Let me know if there is a way around that and I can share it for all to read.

Big surprise was that the triumph beat the Busa and the R6 in the sprint to 100 yards!
They did mention the Busa's tire smoking antics of the line and that a few seconds after the 100 yard mark both came screaming past the triumph but still, good stuff eh? It also came top in both roll on tests and was the smoothest engine.

I know that the Speedy is very popular in the UK and Europe and hopefully it will catch on in the states. Were are in a minority group here. Too bad the suckers with other bike don't know what we know. Ah, to hell with them let them keep their Jap plastic covered toys and just show them to the twisties. That's what nice about the UK and Europe, plenty of GREAT roads to ride on.

I enjoy being the minority. I love passing up jap bikes and then having them pull up next to me and just stare. It plays to my ego.
