I am kinda surprised a Camaro police car could go that fast, but a Motorola radio goes a whole lot faster than anything else!

They don't. The newer 2002 police Cameros are reported to have a 159 mph top speed (That's the cut off that GM's lawyers would allow...otherwise it may go faster).

I saw one report that said that the 1997 police Cameros had a 174 mph top speed (maybe that's the model year these guys were driving, but doubtful due to the mileage that would likely be on a 97 cop car).

It doesn't reall matter how fast the police car goes, though, does it? The main thing is you may outrun the car, but there is usually another police car or even a whole station full of police cars just a radio call away! You just can't outrun radio waves!

Yeah and a high top speed is not near as important as a high average speed. A cop car with light flashing can drive fast in a straight line because people pull over and get out of the way. a motorcycle with a high top speed can't keep the speed up because he still has to swerve in and out of traffic.

It's not always about speed when your trying to get away from ANYBODY ..
It's all about manuvering and knowing the area, but you surely can't outrun the radio ... If they get your plate number, you're in deep doo doo anyway, so sometimes, especially during the day, you're better off biting the bullet so to speak ... Jim

Hmmm, I'd never advocate trying to run from a cop, but sometime there may be someone other than a cop you're running from.

The trick as I see it is to make your 'pursuant' have to lose speed that must be regained again; acceleration is a motorcycles strong suit! :-D

It seems to me this whole discussion is a bit stupid. Unless your a gangster or some such thing running from the cops is ridiculous. If you don't crash, or kill someone, or both(which you probably will if your driving at high speeds through residential areas while someone is chasing you), you are most likely on video. If you are in L.A. area they'll get the ghetto bird after you. Anywhere else they will find you and you will end up in jail, with your bike impounded, and owing enough in fines for the city to buy itself a new BMW R1000 police special on you. The Risk to Reward ratio is just ass-tronomically out of your favor.

This is all bunk really. When the police crank up the whaler and lights you pull over and you know it. If you don't, your too dumb to be driving a motorcycle in the first place.
