All,

My brother just bought himself a brand new 2007 Yamaha FZ1 power ranger edition :razz: . He said his bike will do about 85mph in first gear and he asked me how fast my bike will do in first gear and I don't know. I guess at around 50mph.

Does anyone know what the speeds are for each gear (stock sprockets)? I have a 2006 faster black S3 by the way. :-D

I can't remember it's been so long since I rode her, but I wanna say 1st is good for right around 65mph or so. Now if ya wanna have 1st gear top speed battles, git ya a ZX10 or R1, over 100mph in 1st. :-D

mine hits the limiter at 72 mph , but i havent corrected the speedo yet , and i need a tuneboy

Right now mine hits about 0 MPH in any gear.

I would say 60 something for my 955i. My old 1200 would do about 80 in first gear. Why is so concerned about 1st gear? Doesn't he know that fast motorcycles have 5 more gears, and that no one ever races only in first gear? That would be like a drag racer wondering how fast his car can go in reverse. :???: seriously...

about 60 mph in 1st, at around 9k, never been on the limiter.

It hit the rev limiter aroun 64mph.

Thanks everyone. It was a curiosity question. And by the way Cheap, I did own a 2004 ZX10R and yes, it did do an honest 100mph in first. That is why I got rid of it, I always wanted to do 170mph + runs with it and I knew I would get myself into trouble. The S3 is a much better street bike in my opinion. :-D

I feel ya brotha, I know how it is too, I had 2 R1's. :-D Although I didn't have the 04+'s that were geared to run 100mph in 1st gear, they would still do every bit of 85 in 1st. :hammer: Is speedy slower? Sure, but much, much more fun, and I'm just as quick in the twisties on her. :razz:
