What do you think a salvage title 2001 S3 with 24k miles, new diablo corsas, chain, V&H slipon, with a bad rod bearing is actually worth? I know I should just bite the bullet and just get it fixed, but if I sell it I want to know what it should be worth and to be honest I figure you guys might be able to give me a better opinion. The bike has a salvage title because it was in a low speed drop by the first owner and the forks got bent, clutch cover scratched etc. Everything was replaced to factory and the bike looks fine. This will be my last question about this bike I know I've rambled on about it for too many threads as it is. Opinions will be very appreciated! Thanks guys

I don't have a f#ckin clue. If I was to venture a guess, I'd say $3500.

Not to offend, but I think your gonna have a problem at 3500, but maybe I'm wrong. You have two strikes against you right off the bat. 1) salvage, 2)bad rod bearing. Both would give most people the impression the bike has had the holy beejeezuz run out of it. How many miles? If it were mine I'd be pricing a rebuild two ways 1) to do the work myself, parts only and 2) priced to have a shop to do it, expensive. Then I would price a good used S3 or daytona motor which is probably gonna be cheaper than replacing the rod bearing and all the extra's in the end and I'd swap the motor and keep it. Parts do add up fast and are expensive. Once inside you may find you need to do more than you thought. Swapping the motor is a straight forward and simple job. You could also swap the motor and rebuild the original whenever you want and sell it down the road and possibly make out on it or sell it as is, separate to recoup costs on the replacement motor.

Again, not to offend, but I wouldn't buy any vehicle with a salvage title unless it was practically a giveaway. Triumphtimes has some good thoughts above.

All salvage title bikes are only good for parting out. Try to get one insured with a reputable insurance company. Not happening. I would look for a good used bike with a clean title if it were me. Good Luck!!!!

I've been trying to source a good motor for a good price to do the swap for over a month. I would like to do that and get a rebuild title for it. All of the engines I have found have fallen through when I've tried to follow up on them. If that doesn't happen, I have it for sale for 2k which I thought was fair.

I'd think you'd get the most money out of it by selling the parts on ebay. Then just start fresh with a new (used) bike.

I just checked the value on NADA and the amount of $3500 is the low retail. However since this is a salvage title item and if it is selling as a whole bike then the price should only be somewhere between $1000-$1500 max. Parted out it could bring more, but basically it is a piece of ***** that someone thinks is worth a million dollars. NOT. If you can't get it for the stated lower amount let the seller try to get a sucker to buy it and don't fall into the trap. Hey Good Luck.
