So if I understand this right, I pay them 545AUD for a cable and a code? I fully understand the benefits of tuneboy, but why so much? I know I can buy the "key" for 200AUD and use another cable, so does anybody want to save me 345AUD and let me borrow a tuneboy cable? I of course will pay for any shipping involved both ways, reimburse, whatever you want. Or if somebody in the Kansas City are has one, I can come get it, or use it there. I don't want to sound like a cheapbastard :-D , but that is a tough pill to swallow for something I will probably use once, maybe twice! I would also consider sharing one with somebody. I am not a tuning guru, so I will not need to tweek maps all the time. I mainly want to just have better fuelling when the SAI is deleted, and raise the rev limiter. Is this out of line? I like to support the industry, but I like to support myself and eat as well... :???: :???: :???:

Believe that you need their cable - it's not a standard item.

To read DTCs you can either use Tuneboy or the Triumph workshop tool. Try buying one of those - see how much more expensive they are, and how much less you can do with it.

You are, of course, paying for the development of the software that you just downloaded for free.

I'm kind of with Kansas.

That is one hell of a cable.

Martinyoung is exactly right. What you are paying for is the ability to use the software and it is a bargain. Check all the diagnostic tools out there for working on automobiles. Most of them cost well over $1000 and they only read & reset codes, don't let you change your ECU programing.

Thanks Doc.

I think that saying it's an expensive cable is like saying that Windows XP is an expensive CD.

I agree with the above. The price is very fair considering that you are getting a more able tool than the 1000$ factory gameboy. Also I think that Wayne very much deserves the support, so we will continue to have support for new ECUs and such.

After all the software is pretty much a one man effort for a quite small market, so it would be surprising if Wayne would devalue his own time so that he would dump the price.

If you pirate the cable or serial number, then you will just be shooting at your own foot as TuneBoy is pretty much the only tool for us Triumph guys to mess with the ECU innards. I would hate to see Wayne pull the plug on the project just because it would not be worth the trouble to clock needed the coding hours.

stuckin kansas,

email me, I bought a used cable for cheap and am getting ready to test it to make sure it works. If so, I'll loan you mine given it comes back same condition. We can work out the details off line. I to think the cable price is......well I won't get into that online.

I have no desire to rip anybody off, or to make my own cable. I FULLY understand the benefit of the tuneboy package, and yes I also understand that it is way cheaper than the factory plug-in. I was not doubting any of this, If he was so concerned with everybody buying one cable per bike, he wouldn't sell just the key would he? I was full planning on paying him for the key, and I doubt he has a problem with what I am talking about doing. Would a dyno center have to purchase stacks of cables from him, or just a key for every bike they tuned? As a business model it IS kind of wierd that these two things contradict one another, it seems that they want to make as much as possible on the cable (hence the extra 345AUD to purchase) yet they will sell the keys individually. So, all that being said, does anyone out there want to "rent" me they're tuneboy cable? :-D
