So, I ride everyday rain or shine (no car, SF to Oakland commute). The last few days the pissing rain hasn't stopped so me and the S3 have been wet pretty much constantly.

The result? The high beams keep switching themselves on and the starter has been failing to do it's business ( I have full power, but pressing the starter does nothing until I turn the bike on and off a few times).

How does a bike made in a country that pisses rain have these issues?Any suggestions? Any similar experiences?

I've heard of the tach actually filling with water! In a UK mag if I remember right.

i ride the same as you, rain sleet or snow, so far i have not had any rain or water related problems, but i do suspect that at some point i will find spark plugs in not so great condition...

I don't think you have an "electronics" issue, per se. It sounds more like a switch gear issue. Corrosion on the contacts inside the switches, probably. I'd open them up and see. Only takes a phillips head screwdriver. Easy.

In any case, it's a 2006! Take it in to your dealer. Probably they'll fix it under warranty, no questions asked (It doesn't matter that you ride in the rain. This isn't precluded under warranty!)

If they won't, it may be time to find a new dealership.
