Just been reading a thread on the Aprilia forum about Pilot powers giving up the ghost and causing a lot of crashes on the track, I know they aren't a full on race tyre but they also have a few concerns about them stepping out on the road as well, I feel that it's all to easy to blame tyres when you have your bike at it's limit's and at extreme lean angles on the track etc, I personally have had no probs with mine on the road, and scrape my boots on a lot of corners and never had the S3 step out on me ( Better try gassing it harder out of corners :-D ) Just wondering what your thoughts are on Michelin's.

Now what on earth are you doing over on the Aprillia forums anyway?
Mine do just fine. Like 'em so much I got a pair for the TT to do track days while still being able to handle the job on the street.
Sport Rider just did a big comparison of sport-tour, sport, DOT race and slicks from Michellin and Dunlop, no problems with either brand.
Look at Limey - he's torn up some Contis. Does that mean they're all bad? Maybe it ain't the tires. kit:

I started a similar thread a month or two ago Stampy. You might check that. My Pilots tend to slip a bit on the track, so I'm thinking about Corsa's (track compound) or the newest Pilots (twin compound). I'll take any and all advice myself.

I've had no problems with traction and I've cornered hard enough to scrape pegs now and then (despite weighing only 160 pounds and having increased the rear ride height).

I think it was in a similar thread that Cheap once said something along the lines of:
"You would have to be a really, really good rider to out-ride a pair of Pilot Powers."
I think that's very true. I have not seen or heard of anyone losing it because of these tires. I think they are quite grippy for not being a "real" track tire.

i've not got alot of experience with other tires of the tier, but i love these,, i find that i can break them loose, but it's controlled, and i like that,,, on my favorite on ramp, i can scrape peg and break the rear loose just before apex and carry it slid out there till the end of the ramp,,now it's a down hill ramp so that helps a little, but i've never had it throw out so far i couldn't reel it back.

Track tire temperatures are much higher than street and thats why the make different compounds for each application. If I was running track I would not use a DOT tire.
Having said that I have leaned the S3 over until the kickstand and shifter lever touch down riding the Dragon and it never broke traction with boot sliders and hard parts grindin, might try the 2 ct's next. Mileage means nothing without grip in my book.
