Need a little help. I am lucky enough to have a Triumph dealer close and an Aprilia dealer equally as close. I demoed the SP3 and the Tuono and both are excellent bikes. I am 6' 4" so fit is an issue. Edge to the SP3 on legroom and Tuono for upper body. Has anyone fitted the GenMar bar risers on their SP3 and how was the result? Also, how is maintenance on the SP3? Just an oil change on the Aprilia is a little bit of a chore as it has two drain plugs,a replaceable paper filter, and a screen that has to be removed and cleaned.

I know buying bikes is subjective but I would appreciate your input. Thanks

I am also 6'4" and I feel great on my S3, as for maintenance, oil changes are a piece of cake, 1 oil plug, easy to get to oil filter and a valve adjust every 12K. I have a pdf copy of the direct comparo of the S3 Vs Tuono from Motorcycle Consumer News from last year. Email me and I will send you a copy, be aware though, it's just under 2mb.

I read the comparison (thanks to iscarian). The S3 is a better bike hands down.

Just read it too.... But what about "The Triumph inline triple puts out more torque and horsepower than the Tuono V-Twin all the way to 8000rpm, reaching a redline at 9000rpm and making 103.1 HP...."

The redline is 10000 rpm and the S3 makes about 10 more HP than that right?

I'm sure the stated horsepower stats by Triumph are at the crank.

But the article stating that the S3 being the better bike does make me feel better about my decision. Not that I've regretted it at all. 2 months and almost 5K miles have got me grinning so far!

Knightshade, ignore the articles and the opinions of others. The 5000 miles of grins is all you need to know that you made the right choice. if you let someone else get into your head and convince you that "this or that" is the "best bike" and it doesnt feel right to you then you bought into the hype.
Go with your gut. Always. Ride safe.
