Hello to all, just wanted to say I love my bike. Looked at Suzuki Sv1000 & Yamaha FZ1, but liked the feel of the S3. Now I love the torque. Have had one problem though on the 2nd day home. The engine management light came on, took it back to the dealer, they reset it. Next day same thing happens, so I took it to my buds shop, hooked up on his OBDII scanner (snap-on). P0118, engine coolant temp sensor value, was the code. It must be a hard code, because I could not reset it. Brought it back to the dealer last night. I'll see what happens. I really like this bike, and want it to be right. I've been away from bikes for about 10 years and this was a great way to break back in. (had Yamaha XR/S 650 and RD 400 last, several RDs before that). I just hope this turns out to be a good experience.

Update: dealer called me, they have to order the engine coolant sensor sender unit, they do not stock. Will take one week to get in.

M2,
Welcome to the fold .... I did research very similar to yours.....I've been riding a VTX1800 and wanted something that handled better , and was easier to ride for around town, or twisty riding, but did not want a full on sport bike ..... The experience has been a GREAT !!....The Triple is such a great handling bike, and can be used for just about anything ... Once you get your Triple sorted out, and you get past the intitial LOW rpm break in , you will really love this bike...The mirror's were a short comming that is remidied by bar end mirrors, and the rest is just putting on the miles at the break in period..
The Triple just seems to have more class than the other bikes in it's catagory... Wait until you get it up past 55 mph, and you'll see how well it handles....I was amazed how well it handled even with my 200 plus lbs !!...
I felt like I did when I bought my first Triumph 650 back in the 60's ..Yeah I've got some riding time under my belt ....Good Luck with it ....Jim

Where did you get the pint drinking smilie? Got to have it.

Yes, the RDs in the day were a great bike. My last was a '78 RD 400, in my opinion the best of the bunch. Wish I still had it. But, I'm really ready for the feel of a modern sport bike with gobs of torque.

Yea I miss those days, infact I may have to see if I can pick up a cheap one to rebuild as a project bike. I rebuilt a 1963 YR5 350 Yamaha from the ground up back in the early eighties, full race tune but used on the road, now that was a little beastie :-D
