Did my first ever 3rd gear sit down clutch wheelie today for about 1/8 mile, it was sweet. I am getting much better at clutching it up. Power wheelies are what I am used to off the throtle but they are a lot more unpredictable.

hey ton,, haven't gotten third up yet,,, can you describe technique,, i'm very good at power up in first,,, fairly good at power up in second, and third just lightens the load. i tried clutching it once, but i was in 5th, and nothing happened exept the feeling that it wasn't good for my clutch.

Yeah dude, that's the best way to do it. I do a lot of power wheelies but as you said they are unpredictable.

I can power wheelie it standing up in the first 4 gears, third is my favorite, and second is very easy.
Clutching it up in second sitting down, get going 40-50 mph, pull in the clutch while giving it a little more gas and at the same time release the clutch quickly while accelerating. Third gear around 65mph same thing.
I need to learn to shift in the air. Contact Corners for a more detailed explanation he is our resident Wheelie Guru.

Stand up, bounce, crack throtle, pull hard (4th gear) ussually between 6k-7krpm wheelie launch.
Stand up, bounce, crack throtle pull a little (3rd gear) between 5k-6krpm wheelie launch.
Your technique might vary based on body weight and height. I am 180lbs and 5'9".

That's funny  I clutch 2nd gear sits downs at 15 to 20mph. I can clutch 1st gear from a dead stop. I don't clutch 3rds. 3rd gears are usually all power at high way speeds or off a hill. I can do stand ups 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th all power and I have done stands in 5th and 6th off a hill.

I have been able to nail some 2nd to 3rd shift wheelies and ride into third. Just have to hit 3rd while you are high on the wheelie, otherwise you will just drop the nose like a stone.
I had two beemers (r 1200s) following me today when one of them gassed it on a 4 lane to pass. I clutched 2nd, shifted to 3rd perfectly at the apex and rode it out as I passed him and walked away. twas fun till I lost my glasses (fell out of my tank bag that I hadn't closed all the way :hammer: )
BTW: badass pics corners! I like the rear peg standup. I haven't gotten the nads to do that one yet. I have tried many times, but keep chicken'ing out. I just feel too unstable back there.

Corners,
I tried your 2nd gear slower standup and it fells a lot better, I am also getting pretty good in 1st from a dead stop.
Dwarf,
You bad man you, I like doing that too, passing on one!
Thanks!
