Hey Guy's, As a rule I've always let my bike's warm up for at least ten minutes on first startup of the day. Just wondering what sort of startup guide you all work too.

Wow you are more anal about warming up then I am!

10 minutes???

The Owners Manual says the "normal" operating temperature is between 3-6 bars.

Once mine hits 3 bars, it's off I go. I'll usually stay under 4,000 RPM until it gets up around the 5 or 6 bar mark.

I think 10 minutes is too much of a good thing.

Usually about 5 minutes. Start up, move the car out of the way, roll it out, put car back and strap on helmet.

If you let your bike warm up for 10 minutes, you're wasting gas.

As with most machinery, you can start it, then put on your jacket, helmet and gloves and ride off. Making sure you don't load it up too much, or over rev it too much until you've reached the normal operating temperatures. This would usually be within a couple of city blocks. I've got close to 70,000miles on my Speedy and it's been fine using this method.

In the interests of longevity you need to ride ASAP after start, and not thrash the bike unless the engine is warm.
Letting the bike idle (after start) is just letting it run rich permitting the excess petrol to wash away the oil from the cylinders...........more wear.
Riding off will load the engine permitting it to warm up quicker.

Depends on how patient I am, but I move with no more than one bar showing, but usually it is start, count to ten, then I'm off. I take it easy for a while though.
