There's an 03 999 at the shop. Only 5,000 miles. $11,200.
Man, oh man, that thing is nice.
I know nekkid bikes rule, but...

I considered that contingency. However, thanks to a lifetime of clean living and my decades in The Orient studying the ancient and sacred art of the Tantra, I remain flexible enough to straddle this sinewy Italian beast and flog it for all it's worth.

With the new Superbike coming out from Ducati... Its going to drive the 999 and 749 prices down as the entry level SBK is going to be $15,000 USD.... For a 1100. That is going to drive the $23,000. on last years (2006) models will be dropping to a) make room for new ones, and b) the major price difference...
Also the new SBK is going back to the SSS..... Which we all know makes the bike 25% faster
I want a 996 or 998....but i may hold out and get the 1100 (1088)

Translation:
I was in the Navy for twenty years. I spent every paycheck I ever earned on little Philipino, Thai, and Japanese hookers. I caught so many diseases that the pain of riding a 999 won't even compare. 'Cept maybe that one time I misunderstood a mama-san in Korea....

R100, that is just a scarey coincidence. I was just coming on here to write a thread on a very similar if not exactly the same topic. As I mentioned in my pics from weekend thread, I am finding my triple lacking something. Well, my buddy and I swapped lastnight for a week or two. I have his Duc 999, and he has my triple. This is the part where you tell me I am stupid for giving my bike to someone else......well, He is the only guy I trust enought to do so, and the only other person to have ridden it. Anyway, I finished work early today, and went to test his bike, put it through my usual miles in the twisties. i was gone for 2.5 hours.....I couldn't stop riding, and the only reason I did was because it is bright yellow, and I was coming across more and more cops, so I opted to take it home for the day. well, guys, I love my triple, but the Duc does a different job to the triple, and does it well. I love it, it falls into the corners so much easier, getting off the seat feels so much safer, it doesn't shake so much in the corner, and aerodynamics are so much beter. I am not so sure about the sound of the pipes though. I like my triple a lot for it's sound. Anyway, my point is this, I will ride it for the rest of the week, and mnd maybe some of next week, and then I think I will put the triple up for sale on ebay. i love my triple, it is so much more comfortable to ride, because of it's upright position, and soft seat, but it doesn't do what I need it to do performance wise. R100, try sitting on that 999 in the shop, and if they let, take it for a spin. You will have the same problem I am facing now. There are alos some really good deals on ebay right now too, there are 3 or 4 quality 999's on there. Good luck mate.

Ah! Vindication!
Questions regarding where Cali got my service record aside...
I really love the style and I have no doubt I'd love the way it worked. Then I get to thinking about how much parts cost for the thing an' my teeth start hurtin'. It's a "plain" 999, but more than enough, methinks. Great price. Actually 4800 miles. Previous owner was a doctor who never rode it much. Chicken strips on the thing are an inch wide. It obviously needs someone who knows how to treat it.

i guess if you don't ride much, it would be OK. but those 6k valve adjustment intervals suck ballz. that's why you see a lot of the weekend warriors with the ducatis. they don't have to worry about the maintenance so much...they never ride 'em!

I love Ducatis, it was a close call between the S3 and the monster. The initial entry fee was enough to make me think twice. Then there is the parts you might want. Kinda like harleys, ask how much, auto answer is "hundred bucks", only with the duc it's prolly more. Then take into account the valve adjust with every (?) oil change and i decided that i should look elsewhere. Still like em though.
