Hey guys, has anyone have this issue? Sometimes my bike get stuck in what I asume is a lower gear and gets stuck max rev'in for a few seconds. I could be riding or stopped but it redlines and then feels like it gets unstuck. I cannot proactively reproduce it but I don't think I am gassin it. It has only happened a few times but I can't figure it out. Any ideas?

That does sound dangerous. If it's revving past where you had yout throttle postioned I would think that leaves your throttle cable out of the equation. It sounds like your throttle bodies are getting stuck open. I would take in soon. That last thing you want is the thing to go full throttle and then not come back down because something gets permanently stuck.

I would dump it on their doorstep and dont get it back til its right. Insist on an oil change while you are at it. Whatever you decide to do, i would get it looked at NOW. Good luck.

Yeah man, you need to get that sorted out. I had been putzing with the carbs on my 95 and had the throttle cable off. My brother-in-law put it back on and left the lower nut undone as it is hard to get to and is held in place by the cable anyway (is set that way on all of his bikes). Fast forward a couple of days and I am waiting for him to show up so we can work on his KZ. I get the bright idea that I want to pop wheelies out in front of his house. I whack the throttle in first, feel the front end get real light, then roll off the throttle to see if I can perceive a touchdown. The only prob was that the tach kept climbing, and climbing, and climbing. About 50 feet before I blow through the stop sign in his neighborhood with my front wheel skipping off of the ground, in first gear, and at some insane RPM, I found the kill switch. Don’t think I have ever been that scared on a bike ever. Loose nut got stuck and jammed the throttles.
