Be gentle; I'm an old fart. I've done the search thing, but haven't found answers to these Q's:

My soon to be S3 (I hope) has clip-ons and no holes for risers and bars. What are my options to get a little more upright position?

Seat options?

Anybody come up with a mod for longer trips for gear on the back?

My clip-ons are above the triple clamp (stock is below). That makes a huge difference on all-day rides. They are now about 4 inches higher on the forks. The mod would be more complicated on a 96 because the forks didn't extend above the triple clamp. You'll see on yours that you have the extra room to move them.

I'm a big fan of Corbin seats. They are without a doubt the most comfortable seats I've ever used. I have one on both bikes and had one on a past bike. I'll most likely put one on every bike I ever have. I use my Guzzi for long range touring. I did a 3,000 mile trip soon after I bought her and ordered the Corbin about a week after I got back. On the Triple, the Corbin makes a huge difference as well.

Hey Tracker,

I have a 95. I left the bars where they are. Have not had a problem with comfort yet. Done some 300 + days.

I still have the stock seat on mine, but will be replacing it soon with the Corbin. Have had Corbins on my other bikes.

As far as luggage goes, go with the Ventura Rack system. Solid, very solid. Cannot say enough good things about them.

Cheers

Tracker,

You could try Heli Bars. Their website lists applications for 97+, but you could contact them to see if they are the same application for the 95.

Welcome Tracker, you found the right place. Were you the guy posting at the TWT forum? Anyways, welcome. This D/FW Speed Triple group is growing big time, there's a few of us in the Metroplex. Once you pick it up, bring it here for Euro Bike Night so we can check it out! No worries, lots of old farts as well!

I had a Corbin seat on my 96 Trident, which is identical to your speed triple except for some minor details. My experience is that the stock seat was more comfortable- your milage may vary. The Corbin seat was very high quality, but just not shaped right. It was also VERY heavy in comparison.

You used to be able to buy a bar kit for these bikes, but I don't know where you would get one these days. Perhaps http://www.sprintmanufacturing.co.uk/

You'll get better answers to your questions over at the T3 Sport Touring Forum. Your Speed Triple is a T300 bike, which we don't discuss here very much. Feel free to ask though. It's a great bike.

Thats too bad Tracker- you're literally 8 hours late on your post. I've been holding on to a set of heli bars from my 95 speed triple until someone on here needed them. Unfortunately I needed the cash and just sold them on ebay- a "rare" find (I got $195 for them). Sorry!

Try mounting the stock clip ons above the triple tree as mentioned- that would help quite a bit (you'd still be reaching forward, but not down as much as compared to the heli bars which bring you up and closer). I don't think heli bars from the 97 are the same.

I have a set of soft chase harper "stealth" bags which seem to work well with the T300. I also have a back rack which works fine for loading her up even more.

The stock seat works fine for me- the seat cowl (another tough item to find) helps a bit as you can lean you butt into it.

Supposidly a windscreen helps a tad, I'm looking into fitting an older buell screen (see other post).

Here's my set up for a long weekend:
