Okay, now back to the topic...

I drag race mine all the time, and am going out tonight to give it a right thrashing.

As you probably know, when drag racing you specifically do not want to wheelie. Why? It wastes energy in vertical movement that can be used for forward momentum. Strapping your forks down is one way to help keep the front end down, but I haven't gone that route yet. Maybe next season.

Here's what I do. Grab a full handful of throttle (because the S3 has a long throttle throw) but only twist it about half way. Hold it at about 5500 RPM until the launch. Here's the secret: When you launch, do not twist the throttle at all. Hold it at about half throttle while you slip the clutch. What you want to do is get off the clutch as fast as possible, and only then give it full throttle. Never give this bike full throttle while slipping the clutch- you'll find it impossible to keep the front end down.

Alternately, launch at about 3000 RPM and gradually give it more throttle as you slip the clutch. This is tricky, and I don't have nearly as much success that way. Slower ET as well.

Not long ago I got my best time ever. 11.23 seconds in the 1/4 mile, at 122 MPH. We have good air tonight, so I'm hoping to equal or better that. Assuming we don't have a headwind, which is common.

Good advice. When I had my 250 Husky CR, I had a buddy with a 250 WR, and one day we had an acceleration contest. I consistently beat him. He asked me why, and I told him that I was starting in 2nd gear! It might work with the Speed Trip. Sit forward, rev it up, slip the clutch until it hooks up, and nail it!
