OK I got my bike back from my 7-23-06 accident. I had order
spark plugs (Denso IU27A) and a K&N air filter. So last night
I put them in and found the old plugs were very rusty.
I blew out the holes and cleaned them up. I remember
back some time ago that someone had put the little
straw from a WD-40 can so the water can evaporate.
The bike only has 5000 mi on it and it only got wet two
or three times. What are other people doing????

I just changed my plugs and had the same issue.

I used a Dilectric corrosion protection (corrosion X) on the outer plug and I used a heavy Silicone grease I got from a pool supply around the rubber stoppers.

I have no idea if it has helped at all.

What I worry about is having some of that ***** fall off and get in the head when you're removing the plugs.

Hmm... I dunno, but I think that might just qualify as a design flaw.

Of all the brake ***** and general "biotchin" about stuff, this one is a major problem in my view... It also seems to be an issue on the older motors as well. Fortunately, I don't live in a particularly wet/moist climate so mine at 7k looked fine... But I'd be pretty pissed of mine were to look like that. Might not be an issue to mess up the plugs, but I agree with R1P that some of that could get into the cylinder... BAD...
