Have a chin fairing that was once yellow, previous owner sparay painted it black, and it's a pretty poor job.

I want to spray it again but not sure how to prep it first, do I light sand it then primer, then paint. Can you even sand plastic?

Could always go to a pro but didn't want to spend a fortune for what was basically a free part included with the bike when I bought it.

Please share your wisdom.
