So, this morning I go to the local Triumph dealership down in Olympia to check out a brand new, fresh out of the box, '07 Speedy.........I start asking questions about the bike, basically comparing to what the difference is between the '05/'06 and the '07. It sounds like it's the same exact bike, zero changes/improvements. Then I asked about the brakes, telling the salesman that I've heard some negative remarks about the spongy brake levers after a couple thousand miles. And of course, the guy doesn't know what I'm talking about. I don't even own a Triumph, and yet I know more about his product than he does!!! That really bothers me!

My question now is, are the brakes going to be improved in '08? I've heard that there will be a new generation Speedy available then. Do I wait that long to purchase the bike that I've been wanting for quite some time now? Is there anything that can be done, a mod of some sort that will eliminate the problem and at the same time not cost me considerable dough, which I could use to upgrade the pipes, or whatever else I may need or want?? Help!!

The brakes are fine, just buy one. If you have issues with them there are relatively simple fixes. If you wait for ever there will always be a better model, but you're too busy waiting, cause the next one may be better yet! Just buy a leftover 06 (if you can find one) and get some miles on it before winter strikes!

I wouldn't hestiate to buy one...it appears as though Triumph has already "fixed" the brakes starting sometime in the 2006 model release...of course you'll be hard pushed to get them to admit that....

They lowered the cost on slow yellow ones by $100 to attract more cheap bastards :-D

I have an '06 and the brakes are fine as of yet. They're actually better than the brakes I've had on any other bike.
I saw a late year '06 at my dealer's place and it had different mirrors than the Micky Mouse ears that mine came with. They were still ugly but seemed to see around by shoulders.

I believe that the price is the same, $9999, excluding tax and license. Ahhh, the decisions!!! Of course, i've been looking around to see if I can find a nice used '05/'06 model, but unless I want to go down to Cali-fony or Arizona to pick one up, I'm better off just buying new.

So, another thing that bugged me about the dealer....I asked if he could start it up for me so I could hear it, and he told me there was no oil or gas in the bike yet since they just built it and rolled it on the showroom floor, and that they probably won't start it up until the day it gets sold. I'm like ***!?!? If I had a current motorcycle endorsement, I would of asked to take it out. But to tell me that you're not going to put oil or gas in the bike until it sells baffles me!!! There are a couple of other "Stealerships" here in the great state of WA, but they are atleast an hour + away, not including Seattle traffic. I guess since i'm in no hurry, I can just hit up one of the other dealers up north.

Sorry....a little long winded here....just frustrated and antsy!
