This weekend I picked up a new addition to the harem. A 2005 S3 with about 2,000 on the clock.

Are there any hot buttons, warning signs, better check this's or anything else that you veteran triple drivers would care to share with me concerning a used S3?? I'll probably let the shop here take a look also. I don't buy too many used bikes but I felt pretty good about this one.

Thanks for any kind advice you'd be willing to share.

Check the lever pull on the front brake. Mine are fine so far, rock hard on setting 3 since day one. But many have problems with the front brake (as you may already know, if you've spent any time on this board).

If the brake on this bike is on setting 1 and you can pull the lever almost to the grip, it's probably got the "brake issue."

From an old V-Twinner, I know how hard it is to look beyond those beauties. I got a big smile on my face EVERY time I started my VTR1000, but I got a similar one when I test rode the S3 last week. And now as a veteran, having covered well over 3kms in about 2mins, I feel I am able to give up the twin craving at last.
