With a few mild mods and incomplete tuning, the following is possible:

Simple and cheap 1050 Modifications list:
Spark plugs – Denso IU27a
Oil- ALI ProDrive 21 Type 3
Fuel - Amoco Ultimate 93 octane (R+M/2) (non-oxygenated)
Coolant - 20% PG/75% distilled water/5% surfactant
Header - Stock, with precatalyst removed, ceramic coated, wrapped primaries, internal clean up.
Exhaust - Trident Carbon half system – ceramic coated and internal clean up.
Intake work - Throttle body bores cleaned up with throttle blade edge radius, rubber adapters cleaned up. Custom cold air ducting.
Air Filter - BMC “street” filter
Velocity stacks - Custom made stacks with adjustable length set at 75mm length for this test.
Cam timing - Falicon adjustable cam gears - set at near stock for this test.
Tuning - Tuneboy custom tune [from base 20088Dyno39 tune]
Other - SAI removed, +++ (Devious secrets will be kept)

RPM is cut off - left side is 1000 rpm, each vertical line is 1000 rpm. Peak power @ 9000 rpm - 75 ft-lb available at 3300 rpm and grows from there.
Dynojet SAE rwhp (SP is 1.01417% higher):
1 - Clean out pull with low max rpm
2 - First full run
3 - Several runs later with a bit of tuning (4000-6000 incomplete - more is possible)
4 - Too much fuel on top end, still lean in low/mid range.
Tuning is incomplete, but the cam timing and velocity stack length will be adjusted for higher rpm for next test. More is definately possible - others may have already done it.

We appreciate the info, and it looks like you've done a bit of work, however the results are pretty much arbitrary numbers without stock baselines. Triumph lists power output (at the crank) at 129, so rear wheel readings of 132 with mild modifications...that appears to be a dyno with high readings (aka "feel good" dynos).

I don't doubt that you have gotten good results, but I would be much more interested in percentage increases from stock to modified, or at least a base to relate it to.

If you had access to Tuning Link, it would definitely make the entire process much easier.

Also, if you're looking for HP, you'd be better off going with an 87 octane fuel.

Just my .02 worth.

Thanks again though for the info.

At 56 miles, the bike made 108.1 hp on mineral oil.
With TOR exhaust and map - 117.8 hp on spec oil
With Tuneboy, Trident half system, ALI oil and fresh Denso plugs - 125.2 hp.
With mods and no tuning two weeks prior to above runs (stock stacks) - 129.5 hp.

All results are SAE and from the same dyno. I know and expect variance with Dynojet numbers. But I have been surprised with the consistancy of the bike in run to run pulls and between different days of testing.

I also expect better numbers as the weather cools - Alabama is hot and HUMID in the summer months.

Fuel - In my bike, AMOCO Ultimate 93 makes more power than other brands - tested it. I have increased timing advance and the bike likes premium fuels much better than 87/89 octane (R+M/2).

Good looking bike, looks as good as it runs from what you're saying.

Lol, Devious' 'mild tuning' is pretty advanced stuff for the average user. Can't wait to see the 'intermediate' and 'advanced' tuning down the road as the bike evolves.

Perhaps in 2008-2009 the new S3 will put out 140rwhp and 90lbft, I am just dreaming, better suspension, brakes, lighter bike.

Thanks for the info, I like the dyno stats.

That'd probably be the new Daytona they're hiding in Hinkley. But, we can hope for such in 2008.

Kuhlka,
Anything that involves bolt-on power is mild to me. Intermediate might include adjusting cam timing and stack length for a bit more top end power. And tuning the airbox for better plenum volume with improved intake snorkles.

Advanced would include the head porting and cutting, chamber work, custom ground cams, and custom header that are in the plans for this winter.

Over on thespeedtriple.com I posted a dyno graph where Tommy has taken his 1050 to 141.21 SP hp (139.24 SAE hp) with head work, compression, and cam timing adjustments. If you take what he has done, and what I have done, it shows what is possible.

The 1050 engines are fairly congested in stock form and the intake cams are even more mild than prior Speed Triple 955 engines.
