Hey guys,
I've got a question for all you nuts out there...

I just got my '01 speed triple and it's my first bike. I'm not trying to be an idiot on it, I almost shat my pants the first time the front end lifted up a bit on me. But now that I'm more comfortable with the bike, I wanted to start to slowly learn how to pop the front end up safely. Anybody have any tips?

Do you have friends with dirt bikes? That's the best way to learn. The best way to learn the balance point is to flip over a few times and then back it off a notch!

Good advice! That's how I tried to learn when I got my first bike, but I after the first time I flipped it, I gave up and never learned how to do decent wheelies.

Don't be a quitter like I was! :thump:

monSTAR,

There's been some great posts about how to get your S3 to wheelie (for newbies). Go back to the main Speed Triple forum page and go to the bottom. You'll see and advanced search link. Click on it and enter "Wheelie help". Select "search on all words" and then select the Speed Triple forum. You'll find your answers in several threads.

Yup. Corners is a wheelie monster. L4TUA, cheap, Ton-up and others contributed as well. Google seems to work better than the site search function, though. Jeez.

Me, I'm probably gonna cheat and go to

Yes, they use Speed Triples. Woo hoo!

some higher performance quad bikes are good to learn on. you only have to concentrate on the forward and back with a much more stable platform. use uphills to start it is like cheating.

The Speed Triple is one of the easiest bike to wheelie. The first thing i would suggest is you learn how to cover and use your rear brake. This is the most important thing you will need to learn. It will save your a$$.

Remember to start small and work you way up.

Corners, do you recommend clutching up or on-off throttle blip? 1st gear question.

hey wannabe, it's really preference after ya get used to them. If you're learning, I'll bet he'll say power it up. That's how I learned, now I give it just a tiny slip of a clutch at around 2500rpm in 1st and she jumps right up where I want her! :-D
