What would everyone think a fair price would be for a black 2002 Speed Triple with 3,500 miles, all stock?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

www.kbb.com (motorcycles) should get you close. If it is for sale by an individual try not to pay more than half of the difference between retail and trade-in value. Last one listed in my neck of the woods was $5800. Having said that, I just paid more than retail for my 00. It was super clean, had CF high mount pipe and flyscreen, but I wanted it, it was local and didn't want it to get away. A dealer had it. You can't get a deal from a dealer. Deals are out there, but I was impatient, ready to ride, and winter is on the way.

Try kbb.com and also cycletrader.com and see what others are selling them for. My first S3 was a 2002, great bike.

KBB puts average trade at $4,145 and retail at $6,005. Nada lists low retail at $3,735 and high retail at $4,910. It has about 3,300 miles and the only upgrade is a carbon wrapped pipe. The bike is at a dealer a ways away from me, but it's a dealer I've bought from before. My sales guy was off today, so I'm going to call tomorrow and talk with him and find out how good of shape the thing is in. I don't really need another bike in the garage, but the new 675 really intrigues me, and then I came accross this Speed Triple, and now I'm feeling the need to add to the collection. The S3 really intrigues me as I figure it would probably be much better suited for occasional two up than the 675.

I'll let you know what I find out about the bike tomorrow, and what I end up doing.

If your dealer is like mine, and hasn't had the bike for very long, you want get out the door for less than 6K!

If you are not in a hurry and don't mind traveling, just keep a check on the classifieds here and snatch one for 5K.

Here is the deal I was offered. I haven't looked at the bike yet, but trust the dealer as I've bought other bikes from him. He says the 02 Speed Triple is in excellent, as new condition. All of the services have been performed on time, and there are records of those. It has 3,300 miles on it, and has brand new front and rear tires, and the oil was just changed. The only aftermarket on the bike is an aftermarket carbon wrapped silencer. The bike is black.

I can get it for $4,900. What say you S3 experts, deal or no deal?

I just talked with the dealer. Apparently when the bike was ridden yesterday a check engine type warning light came on. He called the Triumph dealer that sold the bike and they said that since it was all up to date on service that it is probably something very simple, and to bring it in. He said that the battery seems very low, and that it may be something related to that. Obviously if I make an offer it will be contingent upon the bike running properly with no warning lights. What do you think? Is a low battery something that could cause a warning light?
