The time is drawing near. Been waiting on this for a month, ever since I pre-paid for the event. This friday, Sep. 8 I am going to Pacific Raceways in Kent, WA. Its my very first one, so I'm anxious and quite nervous to be honest.
I work at a cycle shop and am getting some 109 octane Turbo Blue race fuel, a BMC air filter, and some other odds and ends. Last track day, my buddy crashed his R6 something fierce, and he's a sponsored racer! Butterflies are setting in. Have a feeling I am going to be taking it quite slow at first. Maybe I'll grow some testicles later. I'll have my father in law clock my laps and will give reports on top speed and track handling.
Just wish I had enough time and money for an Ohlins steering dampener, Tuneboy, Zard.

WISH ME LUCK!!!

I can understand your nervousness Captain Jack.

As for the fuel, I doubt that there is any thing to be gained by using anything with a higher octane than the recommended, and I have read somewhere that you may do more harm than good. I don't know if that is true.

Make sure you keep the rubber side down and have a blast.

I envy you, man. Just go your own pace - it's a track day, not a race. You'll leave better than ya came.

Be smooth!

You will get better as the day progresses. Learn your lines, and brake early.

Track air pressure 30f/29R, we ran 112 octane and it redlines much quicker. I also try to use a gear thats get me into the corner around 5krpm, then you can accelerate harder through the APEX. Dont forget to hang off your bike, it gets you more ground clearance while cornering. Your legs will become part of your suspension. HAVE FUN!

Certainly! Is it possible for the public (meaning me) to watch?

I knew it would sell out fast, so I pre-registered last month. But it is free for all to come and watch which is what I did at the last one in August. Just being there around all the bikes, meeting cool people and watching them scream by is a blast too. And yes, the Pearl may just make an appearance!

I had my first track day yesterday.

I brought shame upon all speedy riders by being a total *****. For the first three rounds (20 minutes each) people were passing me regardless of the bike or sex. I was a bit embarrassed but kept on concentrating on the basics.

Finally on the 4th round I found the flow and it started to feel like I'm riding the bike instead of the bike riding me. I still wasn't fast, but at least people weren't passing me all the time. It was actually very enjoyable, unlike the first three rounds I rode the fifth round, but kept the same speed as in 4th so I don't go over my limits.

Cornering. LOL. It felt like I'm going reaally fast this time

Oh, a camera! Almost forgot to pose

More posing. I'm such a squid.

It was a fun day though
