Oil or wax, sprayed or not, how often do you really do it? I'a a lazy
oiler, use spray wax now and then. I hope they did it in the first service...
Chain looks and feel ok, not too dry - 1 000 miles on the clock now.

About once a week or so I give it a light spray of WD40 to keep any surface rust away. Thorough cleaning \ lubing \ adjusting once a month.

Exceptions;

Full clean and lube before and after a long distance ride as well as maybe once during the ride, depending on how many days I'm out there.

Full clean and lube after riding in the rain.

i just cleaned and lubed my chain last night. used wd40 to clean it (please, no flame wars about using wd40) and then relubed the chain with belray super clean. then i rode around for about 10 miles to get the chain hot and relubed it again.

i relube the chain every 400-500 miles or whenever it starts sounding raspy. if you listen to it, you can tell when it needs a relubing. or even just looking at it will tell you.

I thought the chain was internally lubed (with little o-rings) holding it, and that The "lubing" was to keep the surface ***** down.

I have run mine 12,000 miles ('05) and lubed it about 4 times, never cleaned.

I bought mine used with 10,000 miles, i'm new to motorcycle maintainence and cant figure out how to adjust the chain on the single sided swingarm. My friends' bikes have double sided swingarms and appear very easy... any help?

Do you have the owners manual ? Tool set ? You need to
loosen the bolt in the very back on top of the swing arm, mine is shiny like chrome and then use the spanner wrench to adjust the big nut .

Fit a Scott Oiler!! Set the flow rate to suit then just fill up the bottle every few hundred miles. Keeps the chain well lubed and only had to adjust the chain twice in nearly 7000 miles!

Depends on how often you want to replace your chain.
