Nice find. And it looks like the $20 container would fit the bill.

So who wants to be the first and report back the findings????

From what I understand, You shouldn't cook food in the same oven.

It doesn't look like it needs an oven.

Yes, it specifically states that it is air-dried.

The thing that I am skeptical about is the temperature drop that they provide in their test example. They claim it dropped from about 200 F to 60 F (measured one inch above the header).

those are some heafty claims, even the professionals @ Jet Hot don't try to sell something that rediculous, was there some fine print where it sayd the second test was done in the antartic???

and no you should not powdercoat in the same oven you cook in ovens can be had for pretty cheap at tag sales and what not so little do it yourself powdercoat operations are easy to start with a gutted oven

After reading the FAQ's,Mesoam was right on the money regarding the prep. I found that it's not completely a DIY job.

Quote:
" Parts first must be sandblasted at low pressure (40 psi using a suction type blaster) using fine sand (120 grit aluminum oxide is recommended), NOT with glass bead. Then the part should be degreased using acetone, lacquer thinner, M.E.K. or similar non petroleum based solvent that leaves no residue. The coatings should be applied with an airbrush or detail touchup gun.

Use either an airbrush (not one for pinstriping) or a detail touch-up gun (jam gun). Larger spray units or aerosol spray jars are not recommended. Most coatings spray with 35 psi. The water based coatings work better at 50 to 60 psi."

So, unless you have a REALLY well equipped garage, you'll need to rent a sandblaster and fine paint gun. Or bring it to a shop to do the work. Takes a lot of the DIY out of the equation if you've never done sandblasting and fine air gun painiting before and don't want to test your (lack of) skils on you S3.

Just take it over to Tracker's - he's got the Immaculate Maintenance Facility of Doom. He might even give ya a discount for bein' a forum member.

I'm always wary of cheap solutions - unless I find 'em myself

Just found out through the link there is a place 4 miles from my house that does the coating...I may ride over and see how much it is.
