Okay folks, this is probably not the best way or the only way
but it is a way ( I know----NO WAY). Here is the stuff we are taking out and putting the blue plates in it's place.

These are the plates as you buy them along with the BMC filter that will be put in.

Remove the seat/side covers/tank/airbox to expose the top of the engine---the BIG thing in the middle--!

and the stock SAI hoses and solenoid as shown below

Actually I decided to put all Parts of the swap under this thread.

I prepared the plates by first buffing with a spiral/ventilated
buff using Tripoli compound followed by a loose section buff using white rouge compound.

Then powed coated with translucent blue

Excellent pics Tracker. My main question is this.........Is this mod merely 'cosmetic' (ie, gets rid of the popping on decel) or will it provide other benefits?

For now, mine is 100% stock (only has 500 miles on it). Just curious what added bennies there are - if any - for a stock machine.

I am assuming that the warranty people would break out into vicious itchy rashes if they knew about this as well?

Thanks.

Naturally I can only give an opinion about warranty. The SAI is a device that burns normally unburnt fuel in the exhaust pipe ( poping on deceleration). It does not effect engine performance. It's removal may reduce exhaust temperatures under some conditions. I don't think it "should" effect the warranty but I think Triumph ( like other vehicle dealers) will tell you not to change such systems.
My bike has a Power Commander III and was tuned with the SAI out ( unplugged) of the system along with a Wide Band o2 sensor
with the stock o2 unit out of the loop.
In my opinion you would not want to change the SAI or o2
connections without having the CPU modified tby either PC III or TuneBoy or similar units.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, this is the stock system with hoses

Here the stock system has been removed now showing the reed valves under neath.

Here the reed valves have been removed.

I cut gaskets and used medium thread locker on the plate bolts. Five of the six bolts are M6x 1.00 @ 20 mm while cylinder one rear has a n M6x 100 @25mm to attach the hose postion clip.
This gasket material is EGR safe.

Further , these are the new plates left front view

New plates top view

This is the plug (#PD 50 ) I will use for the air box. I will also
replace the screws that hold the upper and lower air box halfs together with v#8 x 3/4 hex heads ( as IMO there should never be screw driver head bolts on a vehicle!!

I've pulled them off of every street bike I've owned (except the Triple ... yet) with no ill effects.

Side benefits include:
- losing a pound or two of useless weight
- the self-satisfaction of knowing you pulled two pounds of useless weight off your machine
- the danger and mysique of getting away with something behind the EPA's back :lgh:
- and oh yeah, a little more room to change the spark plugs :-D
