I have a 06 speed triple that likes to burn up plugs. I’m finding water in the right hand plug tube (looking at the bike from the back) When I pull the plug it's corroded and rusted. This is really starting to concern me. What the heck could be going on? This is the third time I have had to change the plugs in 2600 km of kick ass riding.

check to see what is making water drain to that location

sounds like something might be cracked/shifted causing the water to not drain propperly??

still have warranty left right :???: :-D

Two things - I agree with Mesoam. A possible small coolant leak somewhere, because it seems to take a while to have an effect. Also possible, maybe your parking in an area where it's getting a slight spray that takes a while to build up, or only happens intermittently - sprinkler system maybe.

Off topic - Mesoam, very nice photo in your signature.

Dont wait, do it now, dont walk, ride like hell to your dealer and tell them to fix it. If you are getting coolant on your plugs it stands to reason that coolant is getting in to your oil. Let the dealer worry about it, it's an 06 so it is still under warranty. Get it back to them fast.

I have the what seems like the same deal going on but on the left side plug-I supposedly had the plugs changed twice at the dealer and I changed them today @2.400 miles =I could hardly get the plug out. It was corroded and real tight, very hard to break loose. It is odd that the left plug is very difficult to replace due to frame interference and requires a swivel 1/4" socket set up to get it out. Made me wonder if the dealer mech. really changed all three of the plugs. Probably , but I cannot figure what is causing this corrosion. I cannot tell if the plug is older than the other two from the wear-they do not have enough miles on them for me to read the wear. They are all black on the electrodes anyhow-too rich? I run the dog out of the bike so it should not be loaded up.
Another mystery to solve. Weird.
PS-the bike has never been wet as in washed or sat outside-did get in one rainy ride but the heat should have dried it up-right???

Yeah mine were well rusted up too. My dealer made a point of showing me when I was in last week. He nor I really thought it to be a problem as they looked healthy.

Burn up? Do the plugs melt, foul or what? Does the bike die altogether or drop a cylinder? Does it not start or what? They tend to rust on surface but that does not affect running at least on my bike.

Same here. I think rusting plugs are a feature of the 955 & 1050 engines, not an assembly fault really. Design fault, most probably yes. The corrosion is always on the outside of the plug and the part that matters, the electrode looks healthy; so I have not bothered to fight the inevitable.

Water collects/moisture condensates in the plug wells and for some reason it does not escape no matter how hot & long you run the engine.

Some have attempted to seal the wells with extra rubber seals, some have attempted to cut a bigger route on the existing seals for the moisture to escape through. The result is the same -> extreme corrosion on the outside part of the plug(s), usually at least on the leftmost one.

Has anyone, anywhere heard of anyone who at the periodic maintenance found all plugs to be in good shape & not corroded at all?
:???:

My plugs were the same. I just cover them in vaseline every once in a while and that seems to help.

I put a huge dollop of dielectric tune up grease inside the rubber plug connectors this time. Maybe that will help. Cant hurt. We will find out soon enough. The bike does not seem to run bad, the plug just looks really bad externally.
