This may be a stupid question but I am having trouble adjusting the spring payload with the stupid battery box in the way. Am I just coming at it from the wrong angle or something? I cant even get the tool in there to try and stiffen the rear spring. There is a good chance that it is just my own incompetence.

Once you attempt to adjust the preload collar a couple of times, 800 bucks for an Ohlins with remote preload won't seem like too much to pay! There's no easy way to do it.

I never tried to adjust the preload, so don't know the tricks. I got the ohlins with the correct spring for my weight, and installed Race Tech springs for my weight (With Gear) Set your suspension up first, before you buy all the cool aftermarket bits, and you will be amazed how your bike handles.

I have some oil filter pliers from Channelock that have two teeth on the top jaw, and one on the bottom, and they work great on the preload collars.
