Okay, what are some of the best stories that you've heard (or maybe done yourselves) that help get you out of trouble?

I'll start:
A guy that I worked with many years ago told me this one. I think he said that a guy in NH actually pulled it off, but I don't know...it takes BIG balls. Keep in mind, this was when drinking and driving was "less of a social issue" than it is today and I in no way condone this, or suugest that it actually be done.

If you've had a few too many drinks, know you're over the legal limit, and you still insist on climbing behind the wheel, have a half-empty bottle of your favorite hard liquor next to you.

If you get pulled over, immediately take the keys out of the ignition and step out of the car with the keys and the bottle. Drop the keys on the ground and immediately start chugging the bottle.

By the time the officer is able to stop you from drinking, there will be no way of telling if the chugging you just did in front of the officer was what put you over the legal limit.

Okay, let the flaming begin.

Capt.

I have two:

One, when I was going to get engaged, I carried the ring around with me for about a month. I got pulled over twice to which I explained that I had just gotten an engagement ring for my girlfriend and I was sooo excited to get home and give it to her. They both let me off. I have thought about buying another cubic just to carry around for that

The second is that I have gotten assertive with officers. Not when I have been drinking, you can't win that one. but when they pull me over, they had better know what for and have evidence. I have been pulled over 5 times, some for clear violations like the inspection sticker, other less clear like speeding and they have let me go...every time.

Myself and a couple others could tell you many excuses we've heard while behind the badge.
The best one I heard was "Weaving? I don't even knit!"
Second best I heard was "This is an Island.....it's not part of the county or the State for that matter!"
Third best, " I was getting a Bj".... Took him to jail and drove his girl home

Captain Rat- that would never work....... unless it is a New Dich (i think you civys call them Rookies).
