While people are asking for useless junk like helmet locks and gear indicators I'm going to voice my only complaint about this bike. *** is up with the stupid bar graph of a temp gage? We get MPG, avg speed, top speed plus a huge clock. Couldn't they have put a real temp gage in that you could toggle to the clock if you wanted? Wouldn't it be much more useful? The dumb bar graph should be a fuel gage and the clock should read as a proper temp gage.

I don't understand why you guys want a numerical temperature display. What would be its value over the bar display?

Incidentally, now that I think about it, I don't think I've ever encountered a car or motorcycle with a precise coolant temperature display. Why expect a minimalist motorcycle to have one?

Another by-the-way: many (most?) vehicles' temperature guages are "damped," which means they indicate the same reading over a wide range of temperatures. Manufacturers figure that operators will worry for nothing over temperature fluctuations, so they calibrate temperature guages to read right in the middle of their ranges until the engine starts to get really hot (then the needle finally moves).

I'm grateful that Triumph seems to have given us temperature guages that are un-damped.

Then why not just leave it off and have an idiot light? Every other bike I've owned has had a numerical temp gage, they are just easier to read. I just thought I'd get my ***** on while everyone else was complaining about mundane *****!

Of course, the grauduated readout like the S3 has has two advantages over an idiot light: (1) the rider can see when the bike is warm and (2) the rider can see when the temperature is getting above normal, before it's critical.

I have no trouble reading our bar-type guage; it didn't occur to me that others did. If it's the display type, rather than the precision of our guages that you don't like, I can understand your rant.

Am I completely out of the loop on motorcycle instruments these days? Not a single bike (or car) I've owned in the last 20 years has had a numerical temperature reading. On what bikes are they used?

My 02 gets a numerical readout. :-D

I was messin' around and changed it to Celsius, but I never changed it back. I'm a scientist, I can roll with metric

I agree! Another thing with a numerical read-out is where to measure coolant temp. In the block or in the radiator makes a huge difference in temp. My FZR measures on the cool side of the radiator wich makes the temp gauge show cool 90% of the time.
I prefer the bar. Less is more.

Woohoo another FZR owner lol My gauge is decent on the FZR my best warning is when that pathetic electric fan kicks in. Then I know it's getting warm

I agree with Cur on this... The bar graph is fine and is very sensitive... no issues...

Mine give a nice clear number read out. You guys should just sell them new fangled things and buy an older model.
