I guess it is just because of cost cutting. The display unit seems to have the number in it, but all other related hardware is missing.
Does the S3 have a gear position sensor at all? What I mean is, does the S3 have different ignition/fueling maps for different gears? If not, then there would be no real need for a gear position sensor either.
it would be nice but in my opinion it's really not needed. i know what gear i am in by matching the road speed to the engine speed. i know that when i am doing 60mph in 6th gear, the engine is turning over 3650rpm's. i also know when i am doing 80mph in 6th gear, the engine is turning over at 5000rpm's. :wink:
