so i got into it this week end with a cbr1000 and we were hauling azz big time in the twistes. In the moment i was fine & had not a trace of fear(and rode better than i've ridden before) how ever when we stopped my hands started shaking and it hit me. And then on the way home i couldn't get myself to ride very quickly in fact the slowest (and I mean slow) rider was dusting me. Has this ever happened to any one else.

Go do a few track days till it becomes second nature. Thats the place to ride hard.

I read in sport rider magazine, You should ride only at 80% of your ability if you want to keep it somewhat safe on the street. Seemed like good advice too me.
Thats hard to do while racing...

I'm glad you got scared...er...smart,

Racing on the street is a numbers game, The more you do it, the higher the chances your gonna F-up.

On a track you got run-off, On the street you get run over, or, slam into something.
I've done both... I'll take run-off.

On the street you have a lot more variables to contend with. Small mistakes can have big consequences.

I rarely have trouble hanging off the bike, but I definitely have times when I just suck at wheelies because I'm nervous or scared of getting hurt (or seen by police).

No, never happened to me, I rest my grapefruits on the tank. If you've lost em, go part exchange it for a nice black S3 and thus get rid of the need to go fast. Just wear a bandana and leather waistcoat, well cool. When they grow back, paint it screamin yellow :-D

That's the wrong place to "get into it" with someone. I'm with Hairball on this one. Save that $#!t for the track, man - no gravel, no debris, no animals, no intersections, no oncoming cars, no tar patches, no oil, etc. Get it out of your system there. You'll become a better rider as well.

I always feel like a better rider after a track day. I've been in a controlled environment all day long and able to concentrate on technique without worrying about any surprises.

What happens every time you get drawn into a dyck-size contest out on a public road? Are there magazine photographers, or a podium? Is there an umbrella girl waiting with a big cardboard check for you when you "win"?

Your sudden fear was a message - listen to it.
