I commented in another thread that I had a problem with oil leaking from the sensor behind the starter with one wire running from it .....It's treaded into the crankcase and I have good reason to believe it's the oil pressure safety switch but not sure..... The problem was that I put some marine epoxy around the sensor to seal the pin hole where the oil was leaking from ....I took the sensor out , epoxied it , cleaned everything up and put it back in, and started the bike .....No leak !!.....WONDERFULL ( so I thought )....
after riding about 20 miles or so , I pulled off the exit and went to the traffic light .....I checked my gauges as I always do , and my temp gauge was reading about 190 degree's or so , and then out of the blue the Red light (low oil pressure /high water temp ) came on and the little oil icon began to flash !!.....I pulled over and let the bike sit for a while and made it to my buddies house .....I had no manual with me to know what was up, but I knew it wasn't good .....I checked EVERYTHING at his house ....The oil level was good , antifreeze level was good ....Everything appeared to be good ...I let the bike sit for a good 2 hrs ..... It cooled down and I started the bike and the light was out so I went home .......No probelms all the way home until again, I was going slow, and that RED light came on again !!..... The ONLY thing that I did different was to epoxy the outside of the switch ....
Has anybody had this problem ? ......Maybe a faulty switch ?...... When I take the wire off of the switch ,and turn the key on , the RED LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON !!.....This tell's me that it has something to do with that switch......Any idea's short of just buying a new switch ??.....Thanks, Jim

epoxy??????????????? I hope you did not clean it to good
or you will not get the sensor out. (drill and tap time)
you may have epoxy in the sensor or when you put it back
in it damaged the sensor. ( never use epoxy on a thread)
I don't have my bike so I can't check it but if it is only
has one wire it may ground it's self to the engine.

:-D .....NO, I did not epoxy the sensor threads ....LOL !!..... There is a black plastic material that the sensor is made of ......The plastic is on top of the steel used for the threads and the mechanical part of this switch ....I epoxied the plastic that had the pin hole in it .....
I went on another forum and found out that these switches can be VERY finicky , so I am just going to replace the switch .....I'm going to change my oil and filter too while I'm at it .......Thanks, Jim

Check your battery connections and all grounds attached to the motor to see if you have a loose connection. It might just be that one of your cables is loose and causing a fault.

Thanks, I'll double check all the grounds...... Funny how this problem surfaced when I worked on the sensor .... This is the first it has happened
The sensor is very sensor-tive ....I should have just bought a new one anyway ..... It's about time for an oil/filter change also ..... None of the above will hurt the bike, only make it better .....Thanks to all for their wisdom .....Sincerely, Jim
