I commented in another thread that I had a problem with oil leaking from the sensor behind the starter with one wire running from it .....It's treaded into the crankcase and I have good reason to believe it's the oil pressure safety switch but not sure..... The problem was that I put some marine epoxy around the sensor to seal the pin hole where the oil was leaking from ....I took the sensor out , epoxied it , cleaned everything up and put it back in, and started the bike .....No leak !!.....WONDERFULL ( so I thought )....
after riding about 20 miles or so , I pulled off the exit and went to the traffic light .....I checked my gauges as I always do , and my temp gauge was reading about 190 degree's or so , and then out of the blue the Red light (low oil pressure /high water temp ) came on and the little oil icon began to flash !!.....I pulled over and let the bike sit for a while and made it to my buddies house .....I had no manual with me to know what was up, but I knew it wasn't good .....I checked EVERYTHING at his house ....The oil level was good , antifreeze level was good ....Everything appeared to be good ...I let the bike sit for a good 2 hrs ..... It cooled down and I started the bike and the light was out so I went home .......No probelms all the way home until again, I was going slow, and that RED light came on again !!..... The ONLY thing that I did different was to epoxy the outside of the switch ....
Has anybody had this problem ? ......Maybe a faulty switch ?...... When I take the wire off of the switch ,and turn the key on , the RED LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON !!.....This tell's me that it has something to do with that switch......Any idea's short of just buying a new switch ??.....Thanks, Jim
