Well I hate to fuel the fire of the yellow (slower) and the the very cool very fast black triples. but I took my black beauty in yesterday for the 6000 mile service. In exchange for keeping my bike all day they offered up there yellow speed triple...another how could I ? well I agreed strictly for the purpose of comparison... I was hoping it was stock to see if I could tell the difference in all my mods that I've done. It wasn't it had the triumph off road cans with the triumph download, fly screen, rear cowl, and lower fairing. Mods that I haven't done but thought about. they also kept the stock seat and stock mirrors. I have replaced my seat with the Sargent changed the handlebars to clip ons and put bar end mirrors on. So as soon as I threw a leg over I could tell things were different. as soon as I pull out of the parking lot I noticed how @#$%ing bad the stock mirrors are...I live about 30 minutes from my dealer so I was able to spend some time on this strange yellow beast. Next was the on ramp as soon as I start getting into the gears I'm pleasantly surprised by the the cans, they opened up into a nice growl and the map was right on, something I've had a problem with I need to get into a dyno...on the highway which was most of the ride home I notice a bit of vibration that I don't have in the bars and I think this is due to the fact that I have the bar end mirrors with the rubber damping and the stock bar ends are just metal ends no rubber...as thats going on I'm trying to get into a better riding position and can't the stock seat besides being to soft for support offers no room to move around your stuck in one position. The Sargent offers plenty of room to adjust yourself. next I'm noticing allot more wind noise, this must be the fly screen and stock mirror combo and I noticed no less wind with the fly screen. So now for the unexplained I'm getting into the throttle pretty good now and no front end shake even when the wheel leaves the ground? Which I forgot how easy that was with the stock bars on with the clip ons there is more weight up front it still wheelies nice but not as easyI put the matris damper on my bike to stop this problem and this bike has no wobble no damper what gives? and the brakes felt like my buddies 675. no long lever travel there can't be that much inconsistently in manufacture can there?
Well my bike was done a few hours later I made the 30 min trip back still comparing in my head and was missing my bike... to Sum up the experience
1. If your thinking of an exhaust upgrade thats easy and right on do the off road cans and download. affordable, sounds great.
2. if you have stock mirrors GET NEW ONES...
3. If you feel cramped up in your riding position go with the Sargent seat plenty of room.
4. the fly screen is for looks.
5. the stock bars feel good at low speeds, but the clip ons feel way better at higher speeds and around corners I feel my weight is distributed more. but definitely not as comfy as the stock bars but IMO the trade off is worth it.
6. the stock suspension is very soft...Good for some not for others.
7. The Blacker the better...Sorry I had to...

Technically, it's called buyer's remorse. Symptoms include justification, anxiety and down-playing the benefits of opposing products. There are support groups for this type of affliction. Admitting there is a problem is the first step to finding the cure.

I am speaking about the color ofcourse.
