I’m living in small town and today I didn’t starting my ST close to favorite place where all motorcycling drivers meeting. When is engine cold, in morning, I’ve not had problems at all, never. But if I am driving and try to start engine after one our nothing happen. I funded that if I put my gear in first my ST starting??? What is problem with that? In neutral I can start only when is engine very cold. Here fuel is very bad, in my country, maybe is problem with that? Sorry if my English is bad, I need help because if I have to go to triumph service it is like 500 kilometer to my home :???:

not sure. mine doesn't start warm all of the time either. it happens every so often. the other day it started multiple times in row after a few short trips. then after sitting 5-10 minutes it would not start. i left it for a another few minutes WITHOUT DOING A THING and it fired right up.

It could be lots of things. It should be under warranty so I'd take it to the dealer and have them sort it out. I know it's a long ride, but that's an excuse to go for a long ride!

You could also try the "Ten Minute Tune" trick. Start up the bike and ride it up to operating temperature. Then let it idle for 10 - 15 minutes without touching anything. This resets the Engine Management Unit and forces it to calibrate itself. It might solve your problem.

I doubt it's the fuel.

I know that is better to use my garanty but I have to lose like two days. And I was there like one month ago to do regular servise. I will tray with battery and after that with sparks and still wait. If it is like before I will go to visit my diler and service. I like miona S3, and I am only one with triumph in my city, but I am disapointing, my next motorcycle will be from Japane.

Hard starting is the least favorite thing about my bike. What works best for me is to roll the throttle on and off quickly when starting cold, when hot don't touch it.

viktorbgd, My 06 does the exact same thing. If i restart it within a few minutes (like when I fill up with gas) it starts right up. If I wait like 30 minutes, it doesn;t want to start. It never wants to start when cold.

I changed my spark plugs. Didn't help. I ordered a tuneboy, and tried a differnt map. Still didn't help with the starting issue.

My bike only has 2500 miles on it.

My dealer doesn't have a clue as to whats wrong with my bike.

Let us know if you find out whats wrong with yours.

Could be a few things. First, you may be right that it's the fuel. I was having the same problem (bad warm starts) with my 955 recently. I put in a new tank of fuel and it began starting right back up again. Look around for a gas station that sells gas that doesn't give you problems and them keep filler your S3 there.

The second thing is that it might be your battery. When my last battery started to die (at about 6,000 miles) it was very hard starting, even warm. Try buying a Battery Tender, or something equivalent, to keep your battery strong. If you battery is already dying, you may want to get another one.

Neither of these things require you to take it to the Triumph dealer, so try them first.

By the way, bad gas and weak batteries also afflict Japanese bikes. Don't go to the dark side.

I made some mass, my starter died, after three days of starting problem now it is some noise when I trying to start. Some "metal" soind. Today I will try with battery, thanks for all answers. Next time I will put my S3 in Van and go to service.
