I had a 2006 SPRINT ST, same motor as the Triple....
I had a HOT hard starting problem.

I'd go for a ride and stop for a break and after 15 mins or so try and start it and it would crank, and crank, and crank, is this what your Triple does??

If so it may be a clutch problem

The dealer put in a new "Sprag" clutch under warranty and it solved the problem, no more Hard starting when HOT/Warm.

Triumph KNOWS about this problem they have a certain percentage of 1050 motors that do it OR did it, they may have fixed this problem on new models.(Triumph told me about it when I called them direct, the dealer didn't think it was the problem and was surprised when it was)

FYI..... the Triumph dealer was DOUG DOUGLAS in San Bernardino Ca. that did the work
Maybe your dealer can call them and get soem info. have them talk to ART if they call.

BTW...you shouldn't have to do ANYTHING with the trottle while starting IF a fuel injected bike is working properly.

One more thing......My friend has a 2006 Speed Triple (he calles it the Speed Cripple) only 4,500 miles on it and so far he had the number 2 rod snap in the motor(he does NOT run his bikes hard and takes VERY good care of them)....dealer tried to say he ran it low on oil, untill they tore apart the engine and agreed to fix it under warranty. (he's been riding motorcycles for like 40 years)

He ASLO has starting problems Hot AND Cold.
He's ready to sell it becasue the dealer can't find the problem.

I just sold my Sprint, I HAD the HOT hard starting problem, also gas tank was bubbleing under the paint, new tank under warranty, also lots of rubber pieces deteriorating, drag link bolt recall.

Say what you will about Japanese bikes, too common, they all look alike ect.......I've owned quite a few and I never had problems with them.
When you have irritating problems like this it takes the joy out of motorcycling, life's too short to be frustrated.

Triumph has come a long way from the 60's but I don't think the quality is equel to the Japanese......yet anyway.

I bought a New Suzuki Bandit 1250 and I love it!

Good Luck Guys!

oh ****! guess i forgot to update this :violent1:
Bike starts first rotation since they put the kit on - which Triumph paid for. I was pissed the dealer though because they changed the plugs since it was about 2k away from needed and they charged me 60 bucks in labor!
Anyway as far as I rembr the clutch starter kit was something about the size of the rotor inside. I cant rembr if it was change to be smaller or bigger, but my guess was bigger. No problems since

Does anyone know if the 07's had this issue. I just ordered and 08' and this worries me. There is no reason a new bike should have any issues.

Thanks

Yea, geneally the Jap bikes have a great reputation and are generally bullit proof, but they do have problems.
The new Yamaha FZ-1s been having a few cracked frames, and the fueling was a mess on the 06's.
You need to put complaints on Triumphrat.net in perspective.........this is people sounding off all over the planet. Bound to be a few bad apples and that's why Triumph has a warrantee.
With my 40 years with jap bikes I Still prefer a bike with a character and a soul.

True, coming from Jap sportbikes and a 30 year Honda with barely any issues. This is my first Triumph. Love the S3 and can't wait to take it home.
