About the brake situation, that is. I just got done replacing the Nissins with Tokicos. I still need a longer brake line to make it really road worthy, but I was able to jerry rig a setup to test them. Problems solved. No more mush. No more excessive travel. Just powerful, progressive, linear braking with enhanced feel even with the stock master cylinder.

So this is where you guys come in. I happen to live about an hour away from Triumph USA. Once I get my new brake line, I'm going to pack up the POS Nissin calipers, hop on the S3, and return them in person. I figure that maybe when they see what owners are doing on their own to correct their problems, something may get done. Plus, I figured I'd collect your thoughts as well so they can see it's not just me.

So let the bitching commence!

I'll send you an invoice to take with you for:

My time to and from the dealership to get ANOTHER bleed
Gas, tires ect
my time and materials for doing it myself also.
And my time for reading countless brake fix threads. :hammer:

that great, gr8! :-D So what all was involved with the swap? Did you just get your Tokicos off of ebay from a gixxer or something? How much did it cost ya? Thanks! And slap 'em around down there and tell them to fix cheap's brakes so I don't have to pay to fix them!

Except for tracking down the brake lines it's about as simple as they come. I got the calipers from ebay. They're from a 636, but I wouldn't recommend them since you'll need some 10mm spacers to get them to fit. I've got a couple of M12 nuts on there right now until I can find some nice aluminum ones. Anyway, they cost me 50 bucks, but if I wasn't such a cheap bastard I could have got the Gixxer 1000 set that's a direct swap for a C-note. Oh, and make sure they come with the mounting bolts because the threads on the Tokico fit those in the forks, but the shank is larger on the Nissins.

Umm. I don't think so. When they see what owners are doing on their own, they think "good. problem solved".

The other challenge with this is that it's pretty typical of vehicle owners to do "mods" as they see fit. If Triumph isn't recognizing the problem, then all you have done is swap calipers.

FYI, I just received my full set, radial mc (the 200.00 nissin one) tokico calipers, all mounting HW etc for 185.00, brand spanking new.

While overall, I'm not "unhappy" with my brakes, I do think that having to push the pistons back every few hundred is rather silly. I'd rather forget about that. I've been lucky I guess in that I've never had a serious problem that some have had. I was going to do just the MC, but for less than 2 bills... why not do the whole thing. Plus they are black, which makes more of the bike black, thus faster... Oh and I just got my BLACK 44t sprocket from Sprocket Sprecialists today... Updates on that later...

I'm waiting for my lines to come in for the brakes, I'm doing a similar dual line setup to TSC... but not rotors...
