I'm curious why someone would want a naked 675 instead of the big dog S3. What do you guys think?

It's a bit more newbie friendly than the 1050?

'Cause the 1050 should not be a first bike, and the 675 certainly could be.

Probably 50+ lbs lighter having no fairing, even more nimble handling, fully adjustable rear shock if its anything like the 675, that wicked intake sound...

I'd go for one if it were everything the 675 is without the fairing.

'Cause young uns may not be able to get insurance (mandatory in some countries) on a litre bike and besides a smaller bike would be cheaper to insure.

That pretty much sums it up. It would be much more than the 1050 is on the handling department. I would have to be as short as a circus midget to comfortably fit on one, though.

Many countries also limit the power output of a bike ridden by new riders under the age of 25 during their first 2 years on a bike. A 675 would be much easier to detune than a 1050. They could buy the detuned 675, ride it 2 years then take it back to the dealer to have it easily remapped to a full fledged screamer.

Sure but if anything happens and you get caught (in Switzerland anyway) you can kiss that new motorcycle license (and your regular automobile license as well) goodbye for a looooonnnnnng time..!!
