WD= water displacer... Not designed to truly "lube" anything. It is a great rust inhibitor, and also is good for breaking loose stuck bolts... as a general lube, especially an O- or X- ring chain... Not great... It dissipates too quickly with friction (read heat) and attracks major junk when freshly apllied...

Clean with kerosene or WD-40 (a million and one uses and counting for that stuff). I happen to always have WD 40 around, and few uses for kerosene, so WD it is. Ride bike around the block a time or two to warm up the chain. Lube with KY... I mean PJ-1 or whatever you prefer. Let that sit for a bit to work its way in and then LIGHTLY go over it with a WD-soaked rag to get the excess sticky lube off.

Ride 500 miles and repeat.

I read an interview with the president of PJ-1, and he said that WD-40 is not good for chains, as it gets past the o/x rings and flushes the grease out. kerosene is the best cleaner, from my experience.

I have been using nothing but wd 40 on my dirt bike chains for the last 10 years. O ring chains should not need heavy lubricants. I don't like anything waxy or sticky on my chains. IMO they do nothing but attract dirt. Spockets always seem to go before my chains.

Then try tis product. Dupont Teflon Multi Use Lubricant. I read a review of it on webbikeworld. They love the stuff. I bought a can, but haven't used it on my chain yet. I use it on the moving parts of my bicycles, etc. Should be good for the CA sand.

For general surface protection I've been using ACF-50 recently, it seems to work ok.

Is it available in the USA?

A good Multi purpose protectant here in the US is MPPL. Smells good too.

wd 40 is basically kerosene and parrafin , dissolved wax so to speak .

try this , spray it on some flat glass surface and leavi it in the sone , you will notice the residue the next day .

that being said , there are much better things out there for chains ,

i use a product called weatherproof , made by kano labs , the makers of kroil.

get it for free so i like it
