I wanted to try something new that's not made in Japan. Not that I don't like those bikes but out of all four brands they don't make anything I am interested in. So I decided on the MV Agusta Brutale 910R. 3 hour drive to Chicago to the nearest dealer to ride one. I did a lot of research and was 90% certain of my choice. Italian craftsmanship is something to behold but during the ride I was disappointed. The foot pegs are way to high and way to small and the power was less than expected. I was really bummed. Salesman asked me what I wanted in a bike and pointed at the S3. A Triumph no way man. He says Take it for a ride first then come back and we will talk. I had low expectations I never considered a Triumph. I was all smiles the feel, handling, and that torque yea baby yea. Second weekend is coming up and it has left that ZRX feeling like a dinosaur I might be a Triumph man for life.

Agreed the MV is a stunner and it was on my list . But you have to be built like a jocky to ride the thing.

Triumph has produced bike for the road. From handling to seating ........ then there is the torque

enjoy

Ranger32, you get that thing at MCC?!?!?! they are great to work with. good choice on the bike. you'll love it. cheaper price, cheaper maintenance, more accessibility to parts over the MV...not that i wouldn't like one of those too...........

I have just been reading a test on the Brutale 910R in a local magazine here. Claims 100KW (137hp) but you got to rev to 11000 to get it and max torque 96 Nm which is 9Nm less than the S3. Thats a lot. The S3 torque curve is very flat, but I expect that the revvy 4cyl torque curve would be more like a japanese 4cyl curve, climbing with the revs.

For a bike costing 50% more than the S3 in the US (about 75% more here in Australia), I would be wanting a lot lot more.

That salesman did you a huge favor pushing you to test ride the Triumph.

When I was looking for a new bike I test rode all sorts of fun stuff. I couldn't get a ride on a Brutale but I rode an MV750F4 (even more gutless down low). I also rode a Tuono, 999, K1200S and R1200RT. A short ride on the S3 and I was sold. I couldn't believe how good it was, especially as it was easily the cheapest...

Thank you for the welcome. I have a jet black S3. My ZRX has cams, full Muzzy exhaust, Dyna ignition and 39mm Keihin FCR carbs. The only thing left to do was a big bore kit. 4000$ spent on a bike that only books for 3K nah I don't think so. The Augusta would look real good in my garage but I like to ride and it was not going to cut it. 15500 for the S and 19500 for the R model. Yes I went to MCC. John Acton is cool. I don't know why I should want to shoot him he saved me thousands a put me on a bike that is an absolute blast to ride. I know what kind of motor/ type of power I enjoy and the S3 has it. Zard exhaust on the way also.
