The topic says it all. I'm totally hating the stock mirrors, not because of looks, but because I need to move my elbow to see even slightly behind. I don't necessarily want bar end mirrors, but more like the standards but so they come out a bit futher. Any suggestions?

Not only are the stock mirrors ugly, they're useless. Buy some CRG lanesplitter bar end mirrors. They look much tougher and work well too!

Why do you want mirrors? You've already been there, why the hell do you wanna see it again?

I have gone to bar ends as well. Not perfect but at least you can see behind you.

CRG Lanesplits are very very nice. I can see directly behind me and two lanes worth of blind spots on both sides of me when on the freeway. No vibrations, convex mirrors, good looks, help with lane splitting, etc.

With the barend mirrors, I have to actually look down a little bit to see out of the mirrors though. That's the only disadvantage, and not even worth mentioning (even though I did).

I had CRG Hindsights, and hated them. I couldn't see a thing. I replaced them with Rizoma Reverse barend's. Now I can see who is sniffing my can

I made a mirror extension for just the right side out of a 3/8" tubing from Home Depot and a bolt with the head cut off. Run the tap in the tube as far as it will go (the ID is perfect for the tap).
Cut the tube to 1 1/2" or so , find a bolt that threads into the mirror, cut the head off, and reassemble the whole mess. I also got a lot more view by bending the stalks. Right side only cause the right switchgear is wider than left, moving the mirror too far inboard. The tubing is in the bin with the steel and aluminum angles and dowels, not in the plumbing aisle.

The stock mirrors are useless. The CRGs seem to be popular, but since they are right on the end of the bar, it seems to me your arm would still get in the way of seein' 'em. And they cost $80+ each.

That's EACH. It's a clamp, some billet and a mirror. Tooled up, it probably costs 'em $10 to make. If that.

I went the cheaper route and got the Napoleons (Google "Napoleon bar end mirrors - you'll get a ton of 'em). $20-30. Less vibration, a number of options as far as how you set the mirror, and a CLEAR view behind you (too wide? Flip 'em over). Liked 'em so much, I got a set for the BMW too. And I STILL paid less than you'd pay for one set of the CRGs.

Yeah, but you have to put 25c in those mirrors to get em to work. :-D
