I seem to remember someone posting pics of a stainless steel front fender for the new S3's, but I can't find the post, or perhaps I imagined it. Anyone know if one is out there?

Also, is anyone making a seat cowl with a compartment that opens to store stuff? I am probably going to make my own, but if someone made one, I would take a look. I just don't dig on putting a piece of plastic over the rear part of the seat and calling it a cowl.

Last question, what's the thinking on steering dampeners? I've been chattering like crazy on any real corner taken at speeds over 90 mph, so I might put one on to smooth things out. Any brands people are liking more than others? Thanks!

I don't remember any of the '05+ guys ever talking about making storage from their seat cowl, but there was a thread about this from the earlier days. Click HERE to view it.

Keep in mind that the 955's had a much different seat cowl, but this thread should give you a starting point. I remember seeing the pics in Speed3's photo album. But I just tried to find it again and couldn't.

If your problem is chattering then you might be better off resorting you front suspension before fitting a damper. Then again cornering at 90 on ****ty surfaces could do that anyway.

I can hand-form aluminum fenders using an english wheel. What do you have in mind?

Gonna be doing fenders and a tank for a 1970 Triumph Bonneville Chopper when I get back from texas. If the money is right (competitive to JL) I'll do it. I'd just need some dimensions if you've got a 1050...

You thinking polished?

Jlzmeehan, they are custom cans made by Pipemasters of Brisbane Australia.

Kuhlka, I am thinking polished aluminum, but I will probably just make my own--I am making my own seat cowl out of aluminum, so I may as well make a fender too. . .if I get lazy and need the help, I'll let you know, though. Any pics of your previous work?

Amberale, thanks for the response--I guess I should have been more clear. By chattering, I mean that the forks and handlebars seem to be twitching back and forth, as opposed to up and down. The bumps themselves are absorbed by the front end just fine, it just seems like the steering gets skittish as a result. I will say though, that I had always thought that the purpose of a steering dampener was to lessen the instability of a bike with little rake (i.e., less than 30 degrees) at high speed. which is what I thought I was experiencing.

I'll get some taken eventually and host them with the rest. Feel free to drop a PM if you need any tips for gas welding aluminum.
