Fellow Rats

Whilst in the process of removing the fuel tank to replace plugs and air filter I noticed some fuel staining near the connectors that go into the pump/tank.

Trying to remove one of the hoses by pressing the spring loaded tab on the plasitc fitting cause it to fracture and ultimately break off.

Now I have the thread of the plastic connector stuck in the fitting plate. Seems like a ***** idea to use plastic fittings, which stick out so far.

Anyone had this problem, and how to you get the thread out?

I've had the same problem. There is a metal fitting parts somwhere you can order, that should stop this from happening. THe plastic triumph uses is very weak. There is a recall for the hose side plastic fittings from Triumph.\\

I got the plastic off the tank by heating it up with a soldering gun. Then a flat head screw driver to move it out.

Good luck

The recall fittings from Triumph aren't that great. Here is a link to a dealer that has top quality metal ones.
