Sounds like a way to charge you extra for 'unloading the break-in map' and uploading the TOR map after the first oil change.

Allright guys. I am sitting here with 11k on the clock of my 05, and I was with you initially. I saw break in map and though, "hrmph never heard of it, must be a fantasy".

I used to complain about the soot on the pipes. I had to use carb cleaner to clear it, and there was a LOT of it. Regarding ctrhenry's comments, after I took mine in for the 3,000 service (not the 500), there has been very little buildup on the pipes. I was having a bad day when I brought it in for the 3,000, so I didn't talk to the guy much. Just asked about how the oil looked etc.

I think there might be some substance to this. I have my 12k service coming up soon. I'll ask then.

Dealer wants to charge my son $91.00 for the 500 mile service w/o oil change (I did that) supposedly to do a diagnoistic and download a new map on hiis Sprint ST ABS. HUH? Is this normal???

Thats odd. All you're supposed to need to do for the 500 is change out the crappy break-in oil and make sure everything is tightened down with no leaks. Oh, and lube the chain.

my first service was 151.00 o.t.d.

i got

new map
adjusted throttle
bled brakes
bike fully detailed

really nice guys at castle powersports in nashville

they are taking the company line on the brakes but they acknowledge that triumph needs to do something about it

i am thinking a 675 master cylinder and dual lines
the factory one into two tee , is about some of the worst hydraulic engineering i have ever seen

Before you spend a bunch of money, first get a banjo with a bleeder built in so you can get the bubbles that rise up through the fluid.

What I do when I bleed my brakes is bleed both calipers using a mityvac. Then, I go up to the bleeder on the MC and bleed that with the mityvac. Then, I just crack the bleeder and pull the lever to the bar (bubbles come out). I close the bleeder and let out the lever (fluid drops in the res and I refill). I open the bleeder and pull the lever to the bar, rinse, repeat until you get no more bubbles coming out when you pull the lever with the bleeder cracked.

ALSO, make sure to replace your fluid when it starts turning golden brown. Its only like $8 a bottle for Golden Spectro at the local Hondasuzusakiha dealership. It takes less than half a bottle to fill the front braking system.
