I emailed my Dealer on this issue:
Have you guys heard of this brake kit that several people are claiming Triumph has put together to fix the mushy brakes on the new Speed Triple? See text below or go to:

If not, can you please forward this email to Triumph Australia for their comment/response.
Is it true that the Daytona 675 caliper pistons have a coating that the Speed Triple caliper pistons do not have? My brakes are still unacceptably spongy and getting worse.
Thanks,
To which he replied:
As per recent conversations with the Triumph Australia technical & warranty adviser, there is no recall or recognized problem with the brakes, Triumph use a high m/cylinder to caliper piston ratio. This gives good braking however the bike was always intended as a city bike not a race bike. The master cylinder assy can be changed (to radial lever) to improve braking performance. This is done at customers perogitive as mods to factory braking system is not a standard practise due to litigation issues, ie. Its not there fault if you change the lever assembly and your brakes fail, or put you over the handlebars.
I am very sorry I cant help you more with this issue, as we can only go by what Triumph tells us, the Daytona 675 uses the same calipers, but has a different lever assy. This lever would improve the performance of the brakes, but must be done a consumers own risk & expenses.
Sounds very much like what he's really saying is "Even though I've seen and felt the mushy brakes, I am denying everything because our corporate lawyers have recommended we should refuse to admit anything until we absolutely have no other choice". Oh well I can't really blame the Dealer in many ways I guess, but Triumph (Australia at least) are playing hardball on this.
If anyone comes up with anything written from Triumph admitting the problem, or offering free replacement parts to fix the problem, please be sure to post it here.
